Academics have brought unthinkable opportunities for me, while other experiences I have had were based on hard work and persistence. It’s not easy I can assure you. Fortunately I have also been blessed with a few guardian angels along the way. Guidance and talking to people are so important in this web of life.
Too many times after my talks, students have come up to tell me about their difficulties of starting something new. It’s always the same comments about not knowing who to ask, where to look, what to do when obstacles are at play. This gave me the idea to create the greenerworks community as a platform to search for a variety of projects around the world as inspiration, among other functions. While I have a long way to go from here, and besides encouraging others to take action, I have responded with the creation of greenerworks. It's a small idea, that continues to grow...
This website is about a fresh start to get involved in projects, find like-minded people, share inspirational ideas and create community spirit. We do not use any major channels to advertise, so the activities rely purely on word-of-mouth like our school presentations. As kids we are not given any reasons to play or have fun, so why do we grow up to focus on the negative? My presentations are about motivating positive change, and it's not about me telling others what to do, but moreso an interactive dialogue and to showcase science in a more fun and adventurous light. Afterall, nature teaches us we are all connected and to be humble.
In 2011, I'm very excited to be continuing my school presentations on a regional scale from Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, China and many more exciting adventures to come in 2012. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to do what I love to do."
